In business for over 80 years, MRL offers a distinctive heritage setting in some of Northern Ontario’s most pristine wilderness surroundings. Our authentic and historic lodge facilities situated on 12 acres of waterfront provide a breathtaking escape and access to some remarkable outdoor adventures. Complete with beach, waterfront deck, fire pits, lounge with bar and games room, 30-seat dining room, our full fleet of boats and UTVs and nine fully appointed and spotlessly clean cabins, MRL is ideally suited for many types of group events.
MRL has had the privilege of hosting both domestic and international groups from as small as 10 people to 65 and more – each with their own special needs and purpose. Combined with our back lake and wilderness adventure packages and exquisite dining experiences, our corporate and group events can be customized to deliver exceptional value and an incomparable retreat experience.
MRL is located just 30 minutes north of North Bay, Ontario near the intersection of highways 11 and 64, making it easy to get to us from major centres in Ontario. It’s an easy 4-hour drive from Toronto, 4.5 hours from Ottawa and 1.5 hours from Sudbury. For those who choose to fly, we are a 30 minute drive from the North Bay International Airport. If required, we would be happy to arrange local ground transportation too for your convenience.
Though most of our corporate and group events guests come purely to enjoy camaraderie, team building and the great outdoors, we have facilitated business meetings in our lodge as well – complete with A/V facilities. If you have special needs for conducting a meeting during your stay, let us know and we’ll work with you for a successful outcome.
While we are not licensed, our bar is fully equipped and we can stock it according to your requirements before you arrive so you can host your own private self-serve bar service. Guests are also welcome to bring their drinks into our dining room to enjoy with their meal.
Our Master Chef is accustomed to tailoring a menu to varying tastes and needs. We will meet with you to plan all your meals in advance of your visit and can also address any allergies or special meal requirements you may have in your group. Buffet service is also a popular option where group size exceeds our dining seating capacity. And the food – well, let’s just say that we always exceed guest expectations.
Daily maid service is provided as part of our full American plan program so your group can enjoy the most from their stay and come home to a clean cabin and freshly made bed. Fresh linens, bedding, towels, bathroom tissue, bar and hand soaps are all included.
If your group includes individuals who do not have Ontario Outdoor Cards, Fishing Licenses or Boat Operator’s Cards, we can look after those arrangements for you, making it completely turn-key for your guests to enjoy their outdoor adventure. And if there are some who do not have their own fishing gear, we have extra rods and reels available on site.
And of course, if you and your party absolutely must stay connected while you’re with us, free Wi-fi is available in the lodge and throughout most of the camp for your convenience. We also have excellent cell service throughout the camp and in the surrounding areas.
Your corporate or group event at MRL can be fully customized and can be organized over a stay of your choosing. We can combine our popular guided back lake fishing trips and shore lunch with other activities you may have in your plans. These trips are extremely popular and go a long way to building strong bonds and lasting memories with your clients, employees or group members.
Groups of 25 or more can enjoy full exclusivity of all camp amenities. With sufficient advance booking, we will close the camp to individual bookings for the duration of your stay giving you and your party the entire camp, our dedicated staff and all our facilities to enjoy unencumbered by other guests.
Once you host an annual event at MRL, we know you and your group will want to return each year. In fact, for some of our return clients, we provide free storage for their fishing, rain gear and other equipment they use during their stay. It’s another example of how we go the extra mile to ensure your time with us is optimized for enjoyment and success.

Our dedicated team works hard to ensure every detail for your stay is taken care of in a timely, professional and thorough manner and of course your show of appreciate via tipping is always welcome.
Envelopes are available in your cabin, or if it more convenient you may request a tip of your choosing be added to you bill.
For all groups of 12 or more people, we include a minimum gratuity as part of your quote based on the number of people in your party and associated services.

MRL is adaptable to hosting many types of private group events, from reunions that unite family and friends from near and far, bachelor and bachelorette events, birthdays and anniversaries, private club events for member-based organizations, and just about any kind of event that brings people together of common interests. Many of our large groups make it an annual tradition!
Groups may vary in size from small (10 or less), medium (11-20) or large (20+). Regardless of group size, we work closely with organizers to tailor services, accommodations and facilities needs to meet desired outcomes and budget. Groups may choose to handle many of the details of their event themselves, or as needs require, we can help take care of many arrangements and details for you, making your experience completely turn-key and stress-free.
Our facilities include 9 spotlessly clean cabins ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms. Combined we have 25 individual bedrooms with a total of 46 individual beds in single and double configurations. Each cabin is fully equipped with complete kitchen amenities, 3 or 4-pice bathrooms, screen porch, BBQ, 24-hour propane heat, potable water and hydro. Our historic main lodge provides a common meeting place with a furnished lounge and separate games room with wet bar and washrooms. Guests can enjoy services and amenities including free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, guest computer, movies, live entertainment, assorted movies and board games.
At MRL we also pride ourselves in offering exceptional wilderness dining experiences for our guests. We have a fully equipped and certified commercial kitchen where our Master Chef prepares his daily temptations with fresh ingredients. Groups can enjoy breakfast and dinner as per our Chef’s daily selection, or for larger groups, we can tailor a special menu. Lunch is most often packed to go however; we are also able to customize a lunch service if desired. Our dining room can comfortably seat up to 30 guests. For larger groups, additional food service is provided in the main lodge.
Fishing of course, is the most obvious central activity at MRL and we offer both self-guided and fully guided angling opportunities. With our full fleet of fully-equipped, state-of-the-art main lake boats guests have access to 24 kilometers (15 miles) of the Marten River water system and many species of fish including bass, walleye (pickerel), pike, perch and lake trout. Our guided fishing excursions offer a variety of remote lake adventures accessible by truck, UTV, Argo and float plane and can enhance your group’s overall experience. We can customize a remote lake adventure package to create the experience you most desire.
At Marten River Lodge many services and amenities that other lodges charge extra for are included as part of our all-inclusive packages. We don’t nickel and dime our guests and that’s our commitment to going the extra mile in providing exceptional customer service and value.
Large group events often require additional services and amenities and we are happy to assist in providing these at cost or at a nominal service fee. Below is a sample list of the kinds of services available at MRL. Items in red are included at no extra charge when included in your package. If there’s something you need for your event that is not on the list, just ask us. We’ll do everything we can to source whatever you need and assist in facilitating arrangements.

If you and your spouse-to-be are in love with the outdoors as much as you are with each other, why not celebrate your special day where your passions run deep?
Our beautiful waterfront grounds and historic lodge setting can be the backdrop to the start of your most important adventure together. If an intimate, outdoor wedding is what you desire, we have almost 12 acres with a number of suitable spots to stage your ceremony under the pines and our big northern sky. Alternatively, and where weather may interfere, our historic main lodge can be configured to host both your ceremony and reception.
Our dining room can seat 30 people comfortably and if your group is larger, we can also provide food service in our main lodge, fully equipped with a self-serve bar. Our Master Chef is fully accustomed to tailoring menus for large groups and can help you plan your meals to meet any dietary needs and budget.
Our 9 beautiful and spotlessly clean cabins range from 1 to 4 bedrooms. Combined we have 25 individual bedrooms with a total of 46 individual beds in single and double configurations. If some couples share double beds, our capacity increases to 53. Each cabin is fully equipped with complete kitchen amenities, 3 or 4-pice bathrooms, screen porch, BBQ, 24-hour propane heat, potable water and hydro. Plus there is plenty of parking for you and your guests.
Though Marten River Lodge offers a truly remote wilderness setting, our proximity to major centres including North Bay, Sturgeon Falls and Sudbury offer convenient access to other important services and amenities from within 30 to less than 90 minutes. All three of these centres offer hotel/motel accommodations if your guest list exceeds our capacity. North Bay and Sudbury both have international airports for out of town guests who may choose to fly from distant locations. We provide limousine service to and from these airports. Limo service from cities such as Toronto, Ottawa, Sudbury to our resort can also be arranged.
Other amenities and services that you can draw on for planning various aspects of your wedding are available within a reasonable commute and because we have established relationships with many service providers in the area, we can also arrange for delivery of certain supplies. These may include wedding planners, bakeries (for your wedding cake), photography services, party supplies, printing, flowers, DJ and music services, audio/video equipment and much more. Just let us know what you need and we can find it!
Another bonus to hosting your wedding at MRL is that, subject to group size and availability, you can have the entire camp to yourself so that you and your wedding party can enjoy all of our facilities, amenities and dedicated staff unencumbered by other guests. You can’t get that kind of exclusivity at a hotel!
